Traveling information

Venue

DFT 2017 will be held at Møller Centre, which is a dedicated, purpose-designed, residential conference centre set in the beautiful grounds of Churchill College, in the University of Cambridge. The conference centre is conveniently located in walking distance from the city of Cambridge. The city is well-connected nationally and internationally through a number of public transport links and airports. You have many choices of hotels to stay during the symposium. October is typically the start of university term time, and hence, hotels are likely to be busy. We recommend our delegates to book a hotel as soon as possible. For detailed accommodation and travel arrangements, please see below.

Travel and Access

The city of Cambridge is very well connected nationally and internationally through various transport media, including bus, rail and air links.
The closest airport is London Stansted airport, which is located at Stansted Mountfitchet in the local government district of Uttlesford in Essex, 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Central London and 30 miles from the city of Cambridge. The airport serves a number of international and local airlines, including EasyJet, Ryanair, British Airways, Flybe, Thomson, Thomas Cook and Jet2, connecting over 170 destinations across Europe, North Africa, Central and North America and other UK cities. From the airport Cambridge can be accessed via national rail network with approximately 30-min travel time. The train schedules and fares are available on www.nationalrail.co.uk. Regular bus services are also available from the airport; for bus times and tickets see www.nationalexpress.com.
The symposium venue can also be reached via other London based international airports, such as London Heathrow (www.heathrow.com), London Gatwick (www.gatwickairport.com) and London City (www.londoncityairport.com). Regular train and bus services connect to Cambridge from these airports. Check www.nationalrail.co.uk for rail services, tfl.gov.uk for London metropolitan tube/bus services for local travel, and www.nationalexpress.com for bus services.
The best way to plan your travel using public transport would be to explore various options via www.traveline.info.
